After navigating as a sailor and being promoted to Captain of Nelson Lines when he was 19 years old, Captain Juan Murchison founds two companies in the port of Buenos Aires:
Murchison brings the first forklifts into the country.
The first 11 containers (bringing Xerox machines) are unloaded in Argentina. Murchison establishes as one of the main port operators.
With the purpose of accompanying the development of Southern Argentina, Murchison settled in:
Murchison becomes a leader in port operations in the fish, wool, steel and chemical industries.
Murchison sets up the first gantry crane in South America, at dock C in the port of Buenos Aires.
Expansion to other countries starts with the purchase of companies with operations in Brazil and Uruguay.
The property where Terminal Zárate is currently located is purchased.
Murchison takes part in the tender for the port of Buenos Aires and gets the concession of Terminals 1 and 2. These Terminals were later sold to P&O Ports.
Inauguration of Terminal Zárate, the first terminal specialized in vehicles in South America.
Murchison Uruguay begins operations providing logistic services in Uruguay, becoming leader in the business within 3 years.
Inauguration of Terminal Portuaria Patagonia Norte, as operator in the port of San Antonio Este, where Murchison is associated with important companies dealing with fruit and vegetables in the Valley Region.
Murchison Uruguay a new deposit of 14000 m2 that allows you to operate trucks and containers to level. This center works 24 hrs.
Terminal Zárate sets up gantry cranes for the Container and Break Bulk Terminal.
Murchison Defiba UTE is created for bonded warehouses operations in Buenos Aires.Murchison begins to get involved in logistic services for mining industries. A new market opens for the Company.
Terminal Patagonia Norte wins the bid for exclusive concession of Sitio 21 for containers and general cargo in the port of Bahia Blanca.
Defiba Murchison UTE starts operations on a bonded warehouse at Rosario Airport.
Terminal Zárate enlarges dock in order to reach capacity to operate 4 ships simultaneously.
Terminal Zárate purchases the first mobile dock crane Liebherr LHM550, which enhances port’s competitiveness regarding Project Cargo.
Murchison Uruguay opens a 50.700 m2 logistic warehouse and enlarges the bonded platform for vehicle operations.
Murcan starts operating. This is a new bonded warehouse in Don Torcuato owned by Murchison and Defiba.
Murchison Uruguay acquires a new distribution center, with more than 90,000 m2 of total area, which allows it to expand the national deposit area, besides incorporating a closed fiscal deposit and a beach of containers and general loads.
Murchison Argentina starts operating in Añelo (Neuquén) providing logistic services and equipment rental to specify the requirements of the conventional and non conventional oil & gas industry
Terminal Zárate acquires 3 rubber grantry cranes (RTGs) for containers services.
